Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about Altitudo

GPS and Location

Why is my GPS accuracy varying?

GPS accuracy depends on several factors including satellite visibility, weather conditions, device hardware, and cold start vs warm start. Wait 1-2 minutes for GPS to stabilize and ensure Location Services are enabled.

How does GPS altitude differ from barometric altitude?

GPS altitude is calculated using satellite triangulation (plus or minus 15-30 meters accuracy), while barometric altitude uses atmospheric pressure measurements (plus or minus 3-5 meters for relative changes). Altitudo combines both for maximum accuracy.

Permissions and Privacy

Why does Altitudo need location permissions?

Location access is essential for altitude tracking, weather data, astronomy events calculation, and safety alerts. Your location data stays on your device - we do not track your movements or share your location with third parties.

Does Altitudo work offline?

GPS location tracking, altitude, barometric pressure, compass, and previously loaded astronomy data work offline. Weather forecasts, UV index, and map backgrounds require an internet connection.
